Recreation

YMCA Pool:
The swimming pool offers a place for summer fun in the sun. Receive instruction in swimming and workout with adult water aerobics. Have fun on the water slide too.
If you are interested in competition swimming, the Gothenburg team is always looking for more swimmers!

4-Plex:
It’s “Play Ball” in the summer for adults and youth with a strong  program run by the YMCA. Four-plex ball fields are busy throughout the summer with local competitors as well as with teams from across the state.

 Lake Fun:
Water sports are popular with tubing and canoeing on the Platte River. On Jeffrey, Midway and Johnson Lakes, each only twenty minutes from Gothenburg, enjoy sailing, power boating, water skiing and fishing to fill your summer days with fun. There's also great fishing at Lake Helen, which is stocked each spring by the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission.

Roping Arena & Rodeo Grounds

Picture
On the go for business or pleasure, your overnight accommodations are not a worry. Camping options include a shady spot or a small cabin at the Blue Herron Campground located close to Interstate 80 or if you want something a little further off the beaten path, a space at Lafayette Park is the place to be.

The Gothenburg Roping Club and Rodeo Arena offers a wide variety of fun. Every year, the Gothenburg Roping Club hosts hundreds of people during their 4th of July Rodeo, held July 3-4. They also host smaller groups of roping and rodeo enthusiasts all year long.
