The Gothenburg Improvement Company was established in 1961 beginning an organized effort to recruit businesses and people to our community. Over the past 50+ years business and industry recruitment has changed considerably. There is increased pressure to stay competitive with every other community in Nebraska as well as other states. Professional staff in the Community Development Office provides support to the volunteers serving on the Board of Directors and as project leaders.

Gothenburg is a community with spirit. It has a pro-business environment that involves people who give thousands upon thousands of hours of their time and talents as volunteers to “make it work” for everyone.

Through the efforts of our stockholders we have created many new jobs and new opportunities for growth in Gothenburg. This volunteer organization depends on the continued dedication of its stockholders and thier willingness to freely give of their time, talents and financial resources. Our primary goal is to improve and preserve the quality of life that makes Gothenburg the place we all call home.
